WOWZA!!
It’s been quite a while since I last did a write-up on the site. In that time, we’ve played some fun shows and even had a fantastical time filming a video with the Big Box crew in Portland (@_playlandstudio_), masquerading as moguls of the BBWWA (Big Box World Wrestling Association).

NEW RELEASE!
After 3 years of touring, local shows and plain ol’ everyday life, I’ve managed to get something out there again. It’ll be released as always by Total Punk Records (thanks, Rich!).
The album consists of 14 tracks, and is named “D.O. and The Bytes”. It follows a protagonist, the Data Overlord (D.O.) and his faithful crew of digital miscreants “The Bytes” on various adventures reflecting on human emotion, AI, data privacy, and more. It’s kind of like a concept album, but I’m not sure I’d call it one. Rich described it as having a sort of “Saturday morning cartoon” feeling – and I’d stand by that. I’d be lying if I didn’t envision a he-man-esque animation series to go along with the release. If only I had the skills!
You may recognize Cruel Bore, as an early demo version of it was released to tape for the Punk Valley Records tape compilation some time ago.
You’ll find some familiar elements in the music – driving basslines, synths, drum machine madness – bolstered by a more fine-tuned approach to production. I spent a lot of time trying to make this album sound a particular way. Maybe i’ll follow up on this post with one explaining more about the instruments and methods I used. That’d be fun.
We’re waiting on test presses to come back, but in the meantime I’ll share some of the artwork I drew up for this release. I focused on including a lot of subtle computer references. An ethernet noose, “computer” bugs, pop-ups, scary clouds raining binary, etc. It was a lot of fun and only the second time I’ve done the art for an album release of mine.
